Another lovely day. Impi and I headed across and I went out into battle with my 5m and my Naish Hybrid. Impi was on a wave board and 5m too. One run out and back and we both decided to change down as we were totally overpowered with the 5m. I changed to a 4.5m and my smaller wave board. Impi changed to his new 4.2m and a smaller fin.

Armed with my new weapons I got out the back and was much more in control, whilst Impi was struggling with too small a sail. Second run out and I too didn't have enough powere and ended up with a swim and walk back up the beach.

Impi was re-rigging his 5m, I decided to stick with the 4.5m and use the Niash Hybrid Freewave instead... What a combination, perfectly powered, the slightly bigger board helped me through any lulls and the smaller sail meant I could hang on the the 35 knot gusts without any problems. Once again the board surprised me, when powered up it is a joy to sail. It easily pops up over the white water, points upwind OK to get you out the back, gybes really easily and then on the mad kamikazee runs back to shore it remains controllable and much less bumpy than I would have expected. Once back in and out of trouble it rides the little mushy waves nicely too. Just fantatsic.
